ROCKIN’ AROUND THE BIG RED BARN
~By Suzy Leopold
Rockin’ around the big red barn
on a snowy Christmas night.
Mistletoe hung on the rafters high. Smack! Smooch!
It’s the barnyard animals’ delight.
Rockin’ around the big red barn
with Farmer Bill’s barnyard crew.
Later we’ll have some eats and treats
and we’ll do some dancin’, too.
You will get a get a festive feeling
When you hear voices singing,
“Let’s be merry; Deck the red barn on the prairie.”
Movin’ and groovin’ as we swish and sway
A neigh and a moo and a cock-a-doodle-doo
Grab a partner and kick up your heels
Clappin’ and stompin’! Come on! You, too!
Rockin’ around the big red barn
The party is quite a site!
Everyone’s dancin’ at Farmer Bill’s
on a moonlit winter night.
You will get a get a festive feeling
When you hear voices singing,
“Let’s be merry; Deck the red barn on the prairie.”
Rockin’ around the big red barn
on a snowy Christmas night.
Mistletoe hung on the rafters high. Smack! Smooch!
It’s the barnyard animals’ delight.
Rockin’ around the big red barn
At the barnyard Christmas hop.
Everyone’s dancin’ gleefully
in a new fandango way!

Hurry the contest ends on Friday December 11 at 11:59 PM EST. Don’t miss on this outstanding opportunity to share your version of “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree.”
You may not know his name. But I am sure you recognize the song. Here are the original lyrics:
ROCKIN’ AROUND THE CHRISTMAS TREE
~By Johnny Marks, 1909-1985
Rockin’ around the Christmas Tree
at the Christmas party hop
Mistletoe hung where you can see
Ev’ry couple tries to stop
Rocking around the Christmas Tree
Let the Christmas Spirit Ring
Later we’ll have some pumpkin pie
and we’ll do some caroling
You will get a sentimental feeling
When you hear voices singing
“Let’s be jolly; Deck the halls with boughs of holly”
Rocking around the Christmas Tree
Have a happy holiday
Everyone’s dancing merrily
In a/the new old fashioned way
You will get a sentimental feeling
When you hear voices singing
“Let’s be jolly; Deck the halls with boughs of holly”
Rockin’ around the Christmas Tree
at the Christmas party hop
Mistletoe hung where you can see
Ev’ry couple tries to stop
Rocking around the Christmas Tree
Have a happy holiday
Everyone’s dancing merrily
In the new old fashioned way
And here is a version sung by Brenda Lee.
The winners of the contest will be announced on Friday, December 18th. Best wishes and good luck to all who enter.
Nice job, Suzy.
